Vättlefjäll paddling
Many interesting and rare plants can be spotted at Vättlefjäll, as well as birds like black grouse and capercaillie. The nature reserve&#;s lakes are popular for swimming, canoeing and fishing. The largest lakes are Surtesjön, Stora Björsjön, Mollsjön and Holmesjön. If you want to paddle, you can rent a canoe in Vättlestugan during May-September. If you like to go fishing in the lakes, it requires a yellow fishing license. There are wind shields and barbecue areas along the lakes, also wood storages with pre-cut wood, free to use.
The Vättlefjäll area is crossed by three large walking trails, Bohusleden, Vättlefjällsleden and Pilgrimsleden. In addition to these three routes, there are several shorter tracks to follow. The tracks go in a loop and return to the starting point. Each track is clearly marked with a colour.
Directions to Vättlefjäll
By public transport from central Gothenburg, you can easily reach Vättlefjäll. Take tram 4 or 9 to Angered centrum. Take bus 75 from Angered centrum to stop Kryddnejlikegatan and from there you can walk around 7 minutes. By this route you’ll enter the nature area via the canoe centre Kanotpoolen &#; Vättlestugan.

Vättlefjäll Nature Reserve
Many of the small lakes are not natural but dammed. Waters that have been connected together via dug-out, blown-out canals. Made a long time ago to see to the need of regulating the water supply. Water power that was used for mills in different locations and later for factories down by Surte. But now mainly a lake system that is used for outdoor activities.

Regulations
You are welcome to visit Vättlefjäll's nature reserve but consider that it is not allowed to:
- Park a caravan or motorhome for more than 24 hours.
- Operate a motorcycle or moped on roads not intended for cars, (the nature conservation manager can grant exceptions for handicap-adapted vehicles)
- Make a fire on any other place than instructed by the Nature conservation manager.
- ride or cycle on marked walking paths/trails.

How does it work?
You can choose from:
day (< 9 h), half day (<3h), 1 full day och 2 full days.
It is most common to rent for one day.
For daytime rental, the actual renting time may be shorter than 9 h, depending on the time of pickup.
For example, if the pickup occurs at 3pm during the weekend, the rental time will be 4 h since we close at 7 pm.
Consider that we are closed for lunch, then it will not be possible to collect or return canoes.
